Sandra Lemonon, a Macau-born Filipina, ranked fourth at the Miss World Philippines 2016 beauty pageant, and was also named Miss Photogenic.
According to Philippine media outlets, after launching the program with 24 contestants, the top 12 moved on to a ‘question and answer’ session, where they were asked about the challenges they faced throughout the pageant, the most significant events in their lives, cyber-bullying and social media.
In answer to the final question – “why should you be the next Miss World Philippines 2016?” –  the 23-year-old runner-up boldly shared that it is her dream to help others who are in need.
“If I were given the chance to be the next Miss World Philippines, I would give my heart and try to do my best to help other people. That is what Miss World is all about: beauty with a purpose . And now joining with ‘Tahanan Ng Pagmamahal,’ the experience has been incredible and I just want to do that. That is my dream job and Miss World shares a platform where I can do that. And I just want to be an inspiration for everyone. Thank you,” she said.
The ‘Fourth Princess,’ born to a Filipino mother and a French father, was also previously awarded the Miss Jessie Mendez and Miss Friendship award.
In an earlier interview with the Times, Lemonon said that the advocacy component of Miss World was what first encouraged her to take part in the pageant. She explained her desire to give back to society, and hoped to do so by letting people know more about Miss World 2016 project “Beauty with a Purpose.”
The fourth runner-up currently volunteers with an orphanage called “Tahanan Ng Pagmamahal,” in Pasig City as an English and arts teacher, and hopes to raise funds with  the orphanage to improve the living conditions  for the children who stay there.
The 22-year-old Fil-Aussie Catriona Gray from Bicol was named Miss World Philippines 2016 in the coronation night held at the Manila Hotel on Sunday, and is set to compete in Miss World 2016 to be held this December in Washington, USA. LV
