Local man arrested for aiding prostitution ring

The Public Security Police (PSP) has arrested a local man in his 60s for allegedly providing prostitution venues and supplies to a woman, a police spokesman announced.

According to police, officers on regular patrol in the Iao Hon district noticed a woman “constantly harassing male passers-by” and a suspicious man nearby.

Police suspected she was engaging in prostitution and investigated her.

During their investigation, they discovered she was renting a room in a building in Iao Hon for prostitution.

The woman admitted under questioning to engaging in prostitution and said she rented a room through a local man.

She claimed she had been paying daily rent of MOP450.

The man was also accused of providing prostitution supplies and watching out for the woman while she solicited customers, earning a total profit of about MOP10,000.

Officers later spotted and intercepted the suspicious man, who was confirmed to be the local man the woman had mentioned. However, the man denied involvement and refused to answer questions.

The PSP referred the man’s case to the Public Prosecutor’s Office to face possible charges of ‘prostitution control.’

Police authorities have also referred the woman to the Immigration Control Department for actions inconsistent with her visitor status. VC
