LRT passenger numbers drop 4.6% in May

The average daily number of passengers transported by the Light Rapid Transit (LRT) fell by about 4.63% month over month in May to 26,400. This marks the second decline this year, following March, when passenger figures fell 9.6% to 29,100. Still, the May 2026 result represents a year-over-year increase of 6.88% compared with the same month last year. In 2025, the daily average in May was 24,700 passengers. If we take into account the results from the first five months of this year, there is a 16.1% increase in passenger numbers.
