‘Lumieres Hong Kong’ to launch in November

The Macau Light Festival

Sponsored by the Mega Events Fund and The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, Lumieres Hong Kong has announced its upcoming debut from November 18 to 20.
Inspired by the renowned event in Lyon, France, “Fête des Lumières” (The Festival of Lights), Lumieres Hong Kong aims to illuminate its region with several multi-discipline installations projected in some of the city’s most iconic landmarks.
The festival will involve performance, audio effects and interaction with the audience. The event will provide an important platform for the audience to reflect on the history, culture and heritage of Hong Kong.
During the three-day festival, 3D mapping projections and light installations will be on display in nine iconic heritage buildings and sites in Central and Soho, creating a special light art promenade.
According to Jeffrey Lam, chairman of the Mega Events Fund Assessment Committee, Hong Kong’s history and culture will be promoted through the light projections, with effects on the selected renowned buildings.
“I am confident that this mega event will attract the attention of local and international audiences and surely become one of the highlights of Hong Kong’s events calendar,” he said, as cited in Lumieres Hong Kong’s press release.
A similar event was held in Macau in December and was considered by the government to be a big success. The Light Festival attracted thousands of visitors to some of Macau’s iconic streets, such as the Senado Square.
