Macau named Muslim-friendly destination at ASTINDO 2025

Macau was recognized as a Muslim-friendly destination for the first time at the ASTINDO Travel Fair 2025, held in Jakarta, Indonesia, last week.
The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) participated in the event alongside Macau’s travel trade, leveraging direct air connectivity between Macau and Jakarta.
The ASTINDO Travel Fair is held twice a year and is organized by the Indonesian Travel Agents Association. It is one of the largest consumer travel fairs in Indonesia.
MGTO set up a 36-square-meter Macau Pavilion featuring interactive games, a giant model of tourism mascot, MAK MAK, and artistic installations representing Macau’s culture.
Macau was included in the Global Muslim Travel Index 2025 (GMTI), published by CrescentRating and Mastercard, ranking 16th among non-Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) destinations as a Muslim-friendly destination.
Four of the city’s tourism enterprises participated in the travel fair with MGTO to showcase their latest tourism products and establish connections with Indonesian counterparts.
MGTO is targeting Indonesia as one of the top ten international visitor markets for the SAR.
Additionally, MGTO plans to organize a Macau travel roadshow in Indonesia in October to attract visitors from around the world, particularly from the Muslim market. Times Reporter
