Macau reports third imported monkeypox case

The Health Bureau confirmed yesterday the city’s third monkeypox case since 2023, classified as imported. The patient is a 29-year-old local man who developed fever, sore throat, and diarrhea last Saturday. He sought treatment at a mainland hospital and visited Conde de S. Januário Hospital before returning to Macau, where tests confirmed monkeypox. His condition is stable. The patient, unvaccinated, reported high-risk sexual activity abroad during the incubation period but denied any local exposure or contact with rodents or primates.
