Macau vehicles granted customs guarantee exemption in Guangdong

The State Council has approved a temporary adjustment allowing eligible Macau-registered vehicles to enter and exit other parts of Guangdong Province via the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin without a customs guarantee.

The move aims to support the development of the Cooperation Zone and deepen integration within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.

Under the revised policy, Macau vehicles meeting specified conditions – referred to as “Macau single-plate cars going north” – can temporarily travel across Guangdong without posting a guarantee under the Customs Affairs Guarantee Regulations.

Guangdong authorities, along with the General Administration of Customs and other relevant departments, are tasked with implementing the policy, adjusting local regulations, and establishing management systems.

The State Council noted that the implementation will be monitored, and further adjustments to the policy may be made as needed based on practical experience in Guangdong.

Officials said the change is expected to promote smoother transportation links, encourage business exchanges, and enhance regional cooperation, reflecting continued efforts to integrate Macau into national development strategies and strengthen ties within the Greater Bay Area.
