Mainland man arrested for robbing suspected prostitute of RMB90,000

Judiciary Police (PJ) have arrested a 37-year-old mainland fruit shop owner for allegedly robbing a suspected mainland prostitute of RMB90,000 at a Cotai hotel room.
The suspect and the victim met in the hotel lobby last Thursday (Aug. 20). Following a sexual transaction the next evening, the suspect put the victim in a headlock, threatened her with a fruit knife, and bound her hands and feet with tape to force out her mobile transfer password. The victim was compelled to exchange money through illicit money exchangers for HKD100,000 in gaming chips, which the suspect lost entirely while gambling.
The victim later reported the incident with a friend’s assistance.
Police recovered the 9-centimeter fruit knife and tape from the room. Investigations revealed the suspect purchased the items hours prior, indicating premeditation. The suspect will be transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office on charges of robbery and illegal possession of weapons. PJ officers are also separately investigating the victim’s suspected involvement in prostitution.
