Mainland man arrested for stealing HKD150,000 in chips after gambling loss
A 42-year-old mainland man was arrested by the Judiciary Police (PJ) for allegedly stealing HKD150,000 in chips he had lost on a casino table in Cotai. The incident occurred last Friday when the suspect, after losing the chips at a baccarat table, took them back while the dealer was distracted and immediately cashed them out before fleeing. The dealer noticed the discrepancy and reported it. Police identified the suspect through their investigation and apprehended him at a Cotai hotel the next day, seizing HKD9,000 in cash. He confessed to the crime and claimed the stolen money had been fully gambled away.
