A 47-year-old mainland construction worker was hit by falling drill pipes yesterday afternoon at a construction site in Coloane and was confirmed dead after arriving at hospital. Information from the Judiciary Police (PJ) indicated that the incident took place at around 2.30 p.m. when another worker was alleged to have accidentally caused some slung drill pipes to fall onto the victim. After conducting an investigation at the scene, PJ believes that the case is not suspicious and has labeled it an workplace accident. The Labor Affairs Bureau said that it will assist the family of the diseased to handle issues relating to compensation.
