Man loses nearly MOP120,000 in hotel booking commission scam

A middle-aged Macau man has fallen victim to a suspected hotel booking commission scam, losing nearly MOP120,000, the Judiciary Police said (PJ). Police received a report from the victim last Friday, stating he had seen a part-time job advertisement on social media and was instructed to like and comment on posts, earning MOP50 in return. He was later persuaded to transfer money to a designated bank account to prepay hotel room bookings in exchange for commissions. Although he initially received returns, he later made at least nine transfers totaling nearly MOP120,000. He eventually failed to recover his principal and commissions and reported the case to police.
