Man suspected of defrauding money changer of HKD30,000 arrested

A 29-year-old mainland man was arrested after allegedly defrauding a money changer of around HKD30,000 and was intercepted upon re-entering Macau. He has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office on suspicion of large-scale fraud. According to the Judiciary Police, the victim agreed to an illegal currency exchange in a Cotai casino in November 2025, exchanging RMB28,000 for HKD30,000, but later received only RMB0.01. The suspect was also found carrying 10 fake casino chips worth HKD10,000 each, though no losses occurred locally.
