MGM’s Innovative Artistic Initiatives in March

Empowered by the core values of originality and innovation, MGM endeavors to bring expansive art and culture programs while reinforcing Macau as a destination where globally influential art happenings are created, appreciated, and treasured. This March, MGM has launched various artistic initiatives to bridge Macau and the world.

With an unwavering commitment to promoting the preservation of Chinese traditional cultures through innovative means, MGM hosted the “Living Heritage: Poly Culture MGM Charity Auction Gala” in March. Building upon the strategic arts and cultural partnership between MGM and Poly Culture Group Corporation Limited (Poly Culture) initiated last year, this auction gala received the generous support of Poly Culture – leveraging its artistic resources to carefully select more than 20 pieces of contemporary Chinese artworks and cultural experiences as auction items for the charity gala. All auction items were successfully sold, and the total amount raised reached nearly HKD 12 million. The funds raised will be utilized to support Chinese arts and cultural promotional activities associated with the China-France Cultural Tourism Year, in a bid to foster exchanges between the East and West, allowing the world to experience the beauty of Chinese civilization along the Silk Road.

In collaboration with Art Basel Hong Kong since 2017, MGM has forged a long-term partnership with the prestigious global art fair. This year, MGM and Art Basel Hong Kong have joined forces to announce the launch of the “MGM Discoveries Art Prize” in 2025. The prize is dedicated to supporting emerging artists and fostering new talent. It recognizes the originality and innovation showcased in the art fair’s Discoveries sector and supports the artists in their pursuit of limitless possibilities in the field of art. In addition, MGM invited Macau’s cultural leaders and representatives to join an exclusive tour of the Discoveries sector and a cocktail reception hosted by MGM, providing them with a preview chance to appreciate the artworks from globally renowned and emerging artists, with an aim to bring new perspectives and vitality into Macau’s arts scene.

To make art accessible for all and to further unleash the potential of Barra district, MGM launched the Barra District Revitalization Series – “The Barra ARTivation”, with local students and elderly jointly creating murals and thus fostering connections between generations through art. MGM aims to inject contemporary, trendy, artistic, and lifestyle elements into Barra driving its continuous development, and to present the district’s cultural and tourist appeal through a wide range of art forms.
