MGTO invites HK tourism sector representatives to visit Macau

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) invited 27 Hong Kong Tourism Industry Council members to visit Macau for familiarization.

During the visit, a working meeting was also held to discuss deepening cooperation in tourism.

According to information from MGTO, the HK Tourism Industry Council delegation also exchanged views with local tour operators and visited new tourism projects to learn about the current situation of local tourism development and to jointly promote multi-destination tourism with Macau and further develop regional tourism.

In the meeting, MGTO’s deputy director, Cheng Wai Tong, and the HK Tourism Industry Council Chairman, Tommy Tam, discussed several issues related to cooperation between the two sides, including joining forces between operators to jointly promote “multi-destination” tourism in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and taking advantage of Hong Kong’s status as an international center to attract foreign visitors to the GBA.

The leaders discussed the potential for developing study trips between the regions and the GBA cities.

Among the on-site visits, the HK delegation visited the Barra area to experience the recently added new elements.

As it is known, Hong Kong is Macau’s second-largest visitor market, with MGTO noting that it is necessary to continue to strengthen its focus on the Hong Kong market as well as take the opportunities that arise from it to expand visitor sources and promote tourism flows from Hong Kong to Macau.
