MGTO to launch ‘Experience Macao in Lisbon’ in Portugal

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will host a five-day tourism promotion event, “Experience Macao in Lisbon,” from September 17 to 21, aiming to present Macau’s cultural and tourism offerings to the European market.
The initiative is designed to promote the SAR as a travel destination, attract European visitors, and strengthen the city’s international tourism profile.
The event follows a similar post-pandemic roadshow in Europe in 2023.
Organized in partnership with Lisbon City Hall and the Lisbon Equipment and Cultural Animation Management Company (EGEAC), the promotion is part of Lisbon’s annual “Street Celebrations” (Festas na Rua). The event will include an opening ceremony with fireworks and a drone performance.
Visitors will find three thematic exhibition areas: a main stage and performance space, multimedia displays, and a “Window to the East” highlighting Macau’s tourism, culture, sports, trade, and entertainment sectors.
Hengqin will also feature a booth promoting cultural and tourism initiatives.
According to a statement, drone shows will run nightly, providing an audiovisual presentation of the city’s cultural and urban features. MGTO is collaborating with Abreu Events, a local travel platform, to offer promotions on Macau tourism packages and joint tours with mainland China, Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong.
The promotions will continue through February 2026.
The MGTO said that during the Lisbon visit, its representatives will review Portuguese tourism projects and meet with the Portuguese Travel Agencies Association and EGEAC to explore partnerships and strengthen connections with Portuguese-speaking countries.
