Mobile payment transactions up 13% in 2023
Data from the Monetary Authority of Macao shows that the volume of transactions in Macau using mobile payment instruments witnessed a 12.9% surge in 2023 compared to the previous year. The number of mobile payment transactions exceeded 300 million, totaling 28 million patacas, marking an 8.8% increase from the previous year and setting a new record high. On average, each transaction amounted to 93.6 patacas. As of the end of the previous year, the number of mobile payment terminals in the SAR surpassed 102,000.
