MUST Foundation in Macau and Shanghai launch AI medical research center

The MUST Foundation, with bases in both Macau and Shanghai, has launched the new China Macao-Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Translational Medicine Center to support Macau’s emerging healthcare sector.
The center aims to put Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) on a global scale through a demonstration platform integrating AI with Chinese and Western medicine.
Institutions from Macau and Shanghai have established a joint research platform to promote the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
The newly inaugurated hub, called the China Macao-Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Translational Medicine Center, is now part of the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST).
Led by the MUST Foundation, the initiative involves the Macao Translational Medicine Center, the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, and the Global Alliance on Artificial Intelligence for Industry and Manufacturing Center of Excellence.
Under the foundation, participating organizations include the MUST, University Hospital, The International School of Macao (TIS), and Macau Institute of Space Technology and Application.
Director of Administration, Hsiang Mei Su, from the Macao Translational Medicine Center, shared that the new Macau-Shanghai center would harness both cities’ strengths in healthcare.
He noted, “While Shanghai drives innovation through its AI capabilities, Macau serves as a bridge connecting domestic and international resources and gathering cutting-edge medical research findings.”
The China Macao-Shanghai AI Translational Medicine Center also aims to leverage Macau’s connections with Portuguese-speaking countries to promote TCM overseas.
