Hengqin’s Macau New Neighbourhood (MNN) Secondary School passed its final inspection last month, signifying full coverage of basic education, with the school expected to open for the 2026/2027 academic year.
Construction of the secondary school in the MNN began on May 27, 2024, and it will provide Macau residents of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin with comprehensive educational support and a premium learning environment that fully aligns with Macau’s standards.
The campus is located on the southern slope of Xiaohengqin Mountain, just west of the MNN. The new five-story secondary school offers approximately 20,000 square meters of site area and a total floor area of roughly 29,000 square meters.
The school features a range of facilities, including an outdoor sports field, a sports hall, a library, an academic lecture hall, a science laboratory, and multi-purpose classrooms. With capacity for 36 classes, the school is set to accommodate around 1,200 students.
Now home to over 4,000 residents, the MNN neighborhood “has matured into a fully integrated community offering a comprehensive range of amenities.” RD
