One more retired PJ officer arrested, vice ring total rises to six

A retired Judiciary Police (PJ) officer was arrested last Thursday in connection with a vice ring uncovered last month, which led to the detention of five individuals with disciplinary force backgrounds, including a deputy director of the Public Security Police Force (PSP).

According to a PJ press conference on Friday, the suspect had been paid MOP100,000 per month since 2024 to tip off the syndicate on police patrol schedules, receiving at least MOP2.6 million in total.

With this latest arrest, the number of disciplinary force-linked individuals involved in the case now stands at six, with total bribes exceeding MOP12.2 million.

Back in June, police dismantled a criminal syndicate that had been operating prostitution rings in Macau saunas for at least seven years, with the involvement of local police officers who allegedly accepted bribes totaling between MOP3 million and MOP3.4 million.

The case has been described as one of the largest and most severe prostitution rings uncovered in Macau in recent memory.

Last month, the Public Prosecutions Office has remanded suspects including a 60-year-old deputy director of the PSP surnamed Leong, a 51-year-old acting department head surnamed Chan, and a 54-year-old police officer surnamed So. The other 14 suspects include two retired PJ officers aged 58 and 65, surnamed Kam and Yeung, respectively. YL
