Original sentence upheld in drunk driving assault case

A man who drove under the influence to attack his ex-girlfriend has had his original sentence upheld by the Court of Final Appeal. The incident, which occurred in 2020, resulted in the victim sustaining serious injuries, including vision loss and post-concussion syndrome. The assailant was sentenced to three years and three months in prison and fined over HKD1.86 million in damages. The court rejected his appeal, finding the original ruling and compensation decision legally justified.
