A local man in his 50s, employed as a pawnshop manager, is suspected of embezzling HKD1.23 million in operating funds, most of which he reportedly lost through gambling. Judiciary Police said staff discovered missing cash from a safe in a pawnshop in ZAPE on Aug. 20 and suspected misuse of keys by the man. He was later intercepted while gambling in a casino. Police recovered HKD 171,000 in chips and transferred the case to the Public Prosecutions Office.
