A female prison officer involved in multiple cases of extorting released inmates has been dismissed from her position. The Judiciary Police arrested the officer in May 2024 following a report of her alleged misconduct. According to a column published on the website of the Office of the Secretary for Security, the trial court found her guilty of one count of extortion, sentencing her to one year in prison, suspended for two years. The verdict has now been confirmed. The Correctional Services Bureau also completed the related disciplinary procedures, and in early September, the Secretary for Security approved her dismissal.
