South Shore’s The 13 Hotel opens

The 13 Hotel opened its doors to the public on Friday, following an announcement by South Shore Holdings Limited on August 30 that the opening of the luxury hotel located in Coloane would occur on the following day.

“The first guests enjoyed the luxurious hotel suites, exquisite cuisines and ultimate pampering over the weekend of August 24,” according to the company’s press release.

Mark Lettenbichler, managing director of The 13, who officiated the inaugural private event said, “Our team at The 13 are thrilled to unveil this new Macau treasure and are proud to showcase our world-class offerings to our guests.”

Walt Power, chief executive officer of South Shore Holdings Limited, said, “I want to thank our outstanding team of designers, consultants, contractors and staff members for their dedication and contributions to the making of The 13. We are sincerely appreciative of the support by the Macau SAR Government throughout the development process.”

Peter Coker, chairman of South Shore Holdings Limited, said, “We look forward to welcoming guests to the wonders that Macau and The 13 have to offer. The 13 will not only lead the way in iconic hotel service, but also champion the finest lifestyle experience. We will continue to work on perfecting our refined and remarkable offerings during this exciting time.”

The name, The 13 Hotel, is an abbreviation of Louis XIII, the 17th century king of France. It was originally scheduled to open by the end of the first quarter of 2017, but the operating firm has postponed the property launch at least six times in little over a year.

Previously, it had been announced that the hotel would open in April this year. However, in June the company responsible for the development of The 13 Hotel once again delayed the resort’s opening, this time postponing it to July 31.

The hotel opened without a casino. The company previously indicated that it wanted to open a casino in the first quarter of 2019.
