Two of the most famous actors in the world, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, will be in Macau on Friday to take part in Asia’s only VIP screening event for the opening of “The Expendables 3.”
The renowned Hollywood action heroes’ visit to town was announced by The Venetian Macao yesterday. The integrated resort is hosting the event in celebration of its seventh anniversary.
The VIP screening for the action film will take place in the 1,800 seat Venetian Theatre, where onlookers will be able to catch a glimpse of the glittering array of celebrities as they walk the red carpet.
“The Venetian Macao is absolutely the place to be in Macau to see the biggest and brightest global superstars of film, music, sports and more,” Edward Tracy, president and chief executive officer of Sands China, declared in a press release. “A star-studded event like the VIP screening of ‘The Expendables 3’ provides exceptional entertainment and helps raise the profile of Macau as a world center of tourism and leisure,” he added.
Released on August 15, “The Expendables 3” was directed by Patrick Hughes, and written by Creighton Rothenberger, Katrin Benedikt, and Sylvester Stallone. The story follows the mercenary group known as “The Expendables,” as they fight the cold-blooded arms dealer and “Expendables” co-founder Conrad Stonebanks whose mission is to wipe out the entire team.
The film is a sequel to the “The Expendables 2” (2012) and is the third film in The Expendables film series.
The star-powered film franchise features returning cast members Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Other iconic actors joined the cast for the sequel, including Antonio Banderas, Wesley Snipes, Kelsey Grammer, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Glen Powell, Victor Ortiz, Robert Davi, Mel Gibson and Harrison Ford.

a-list hollywood actors visit macau

Some of the most recognizable faces of film and television have recently visited Macau to attend events hosted by The Venetian. Last October, the integrated resort hosted the Huading Awards with celebrity appearances by Nicole Kidman, Nicolas Cage, Quentin Tarantino, Michelle Dockery, Jeremy Irons, Jackie Chan, Sam Worthington and Matthew Perry. This year, in March, “House of Cards” star actor Kevin Spacey also took to the stage for the Venetian Charity Ball. The stars’ presence in Macau is an acknowledgement of the growing role that Asia (and China in particular) has in the global entertainment business.
