Tap Seac ‘Glass House’ revamp to start this year

3-casa-de-vidroAccording to a statement issued by the Lands, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT) on Friday, the revamp of Tap Seac’s “Glass house” is planned to start during the fourth quarter of this year. Construction works are expected to continue for approximately one year.
The current, largely unused, space is expected to be transformed into “a multifunctional space for the creative industries, where entrepreneurs of this field will be able to exhibit their works.”
The opening of the public tender was held on Friday. For this tender, the DSSOPT received a total of 20 proposals with prices ranging from just over MOP28 million to in excess of MOP40 million.
The transformation works comprise a total of five floors (three floors in the basement and two floors above ground) over an area of about 5,200 square meters.
When finished, the space will hold several shops, studios and workshops for educational purposes to be used by local companies involved with the creative industries.
The statement also revealed that the renovation aims to set new environmentally friendly standards for venues, using paints low in volatile organic compounds (VOC), eco-efficient lighting equipment, devices for water saving and air-conditioning systems that use environmentally friendly coolant gas.
