The public tender for constructing a major public sports park at the former Yat Yuen Canidrome site has been announced, with a maximum construction period of 1,014 working days for the first phase and a tender closing date of August 13.

According to the Public Works Bureau (DSOP) website, the facility covers 40,425 square meters and will be developed in two phases. The first phase targets the northern and central areas, including the construction of Pavilions 1 to 3 and an underground parking lot with a capacity for 69 cars and 169 motorcycles.

The scope of work for the first phase also includes the demolition of existing buildings within the construction area.

In accordance with the official announcement, the project will have no reserve price and a maximum construction period of 1,014 working days, with bids closing at 5 p.m. on August 13. Throughout the construction, the adjacent sports field and Ling Fong Sports Center will remain operational.

The second phase of the project will commence after the first phase is completed. It includes the children’s pavilion to the south and the outdoor athletics field to the east. The preliminary plan for the parking lot in this phase includes 415 spaces for cars and 425 spaces for motorcycles.

According to the authorities, the details of the project are as follows: Pavilion 1 will be centrally located and stand four stories high, featuring a swimming pool, a wading pool, a basketball court, a jogging path, and a children’s bicycle path. Pavilion 2, situated on the northern side, will be six stories tall and will include a skateboard park, table tennis courts, a rock climbing wall, volleyball courts, and two floors of badminton courts. Adjacent to Pavilion 2, Pavilion 3 will rise seven stories and house a five-a-side soccer field, two floors of multi-purpose halls, activity rooms, and outdoor spaces.
