H3N2 influenza has broken out in Macau Prison with at least 83 inmates being infected within the past two weeks. According to the prison authorities, the infection broke out on June 15. Patients’ conditions were expected improve after one to two days’ treatment, but as of last Friday, 17 inmates still showed flu-like symptoms. The Health Bureau revealed that the flu continued spreading to more prison dormitories with a total of 83 cases found by Friday over five floors. It said no critical cases have been reported so far, with patients put into centralized quarantine.
