The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will begin accepting applications next Monday (Aug. 10) for three tourism subsidy programs for 2027, with the application period running until Aug. 31. The results are expected to be announced in November.
The three programs include the “Travel Around Macau” community tourism initiative, the “Taste Macau” food promotion program, and the “Coastal Fun Tour” maritime tourism subsidy scheme.
Under the “Travel Around Macau” program, eligible activities will be reorganized into four categories: “tourism+” activities, extended activities linked to major tourism events, immersive tourism-themed experiences, and “Mak Mak” themed cultural tourism activities.
The MGTO said it will hold an online briefing session tomorrow to explain application details. Through the subsidy programs, the bureau aims to encourage local nonprofit organizations to organize tourism-related activities, promote cross-sector integration through “tourism+” initiatives, and create more diverse visitor experiences to boost community spending.
The authority said the three subsidy programs supported a total of 38 activities this year, including promotional booths, guided tours, handicraft workshops, cultural performances, food-making activities and maritime experiences. As of July, 10 of the activities had been completed.
