
The city’s travel industry posted total revenues of MOP5.44 billion in 2024, up 7.5% from the previous year, the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) reported.
Expenditures rose 5.6% to MOP5.08 billion, while the sector’s gross surplus jumped 43.6% to MOP371 million, reflecting a strong post-pandemic recovery in tourism.
The growth was driven by Package Tours, which generated MOP1.15 billion, a 33.3% increase, as inbound visitor numbers rebounded.
Receipts from Passenger Transport Ticketing (MOP1.13 billion) and Rental of Coaches with Driver (MOP1.36 billion) also climbed 27.4% and 19.7%, highlighting wider recovery across tourism services.
Expenditures on Purchase of Goods & Services and Commissions fell 4.8% to MOP3.31 billion, with Room Reservation Services down 35.1% due to lower activity.
Meanwhile, spending on Passenger Transport Ticketing (MOP1.08 billion) and Package Tours (MOP807 million) rose 29.8% and 16.8%. Operating Expenses (MOP1.04 billion) and Compensation of Employees (MOP726 million) increased 29.4% and 37.8%, driven by higher vehicle costs and hiring of additional drivers.
