2 USJ Open Day Opening CeremonyThe University of Saint Joseph’s new campus located in the Ilha Verde will be ready by next school year, rector Peter Stilwell revealed.
“We should have the campus finished by June or July,” he told TDM News. Mr Stilwell added that students and academic staff should be able to move to the new campus by next year’s first semester.
“After that, there are licenses which are required, which may take several months. So we are not counting on actually being given ownership of the campus before the end of September or October. So that means that we would be using the first semester to fit in and decide where we’re going to go and so on. Then if everything goes well, we would move in [during] the second semester,” he clarified at the university’s Open Day held on Saturday.
About 500 students took part in USJ’s Open Day, the university said in a press release. 313 of those students have already applied for enrolment over the next school year.
Visitors were welcomed by USJ students, who invited them to visit the different booths providing information on USJ academic programs.
The Open Day’s program included language corners, a mock admissions interview corner, radio practice, and sports competitions, among others.
Prospective students also learned that USJ has updated its fees, reducing the costs for local students. USJ courses are taught in English, and the university has students and faculty members of nearly 60 nationalities.
