Work tax refund for 2021 to start this Thursday

The refund for Professional Tax collected in 2021 will start May 25. Each of the 164,000 eligible taxpayers will receive 60% or MOP14,000 of the tax amount that they paid, whichever is lower. The tax refund is part of the promise that the government made in the Public Budget 2023, and equates to about MOP930 million from public funds. The refund will be issued either electronically, by bank transfer, or physically by check. Taxpayers can confirm their eligibility at any Financial Services Bureau counter or e-kiosk. Inquiries as to missing checks can be made to the bureau from Jun. 16.
