A construction worker died yesterday after a work-related accident on the Galaxy Macau construction site on Sunday, the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) has reported in a statement.
According to the statement, the DSAL said it will follow up on the case to assist the worker’s family to obtain the due compensation.
The preliminary report from the bureau has noted the worker was caught between the beam of the ceiling and the fence of the lifting platform while operating the mobile lifting platform. The DSAL said it will continue to intensify efforts to deepen the promotion and monitoring of occupational safety and health.
The DSAL also said it will meet industry representatives and safety management personnel, reminding them of the need to ensure safety management of construction sites as well as strictly requiring and urging workers to take relevant safety measures at work.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation with potential further actions to come in the event of any breach of occupational safety and health regulations being discovered. RM
