KOREA North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Su-yong is in Bangkok on an official visit marking the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Thai Foreign Minister Tanasak Patimapragorn said his North Korean counterpart has invited Thai businesses to invest in in his country because Thais are trustworthy and don’t interfere with matters that don’t involve them.

India Temple StampedeINDIA A stampede at a temple during a Hindu religious festival left at least 11 pilgrims dead and dozens injured early yesterday in eastern India, police said. Thousands of people tried to force their way into the temple when its gates opened at daybreak in Deoghar, a town in Jharkhand state, said police officer Subodh Kumar. At least 11 pilgrims, including eight women, died and another 24 were injured, Kumar said. The injured were being treated at a local hospital.
Bangladesh  Police on Sunday killed six suspected tiger poachers in the world’s largest mangrove forest in southwestern Bangladesh, home to critically endangered Royal Bengal tigers. Local police official Harendranath Sarker said authorities recovered six bodies following a gunfight with a gang of suspected poachers in the Sundarbans mangrove forest. The 10,000-square-kilometer forest straddles Bangladesh and India, and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Sarker said authorities found the skins of three adult tigers and seized firearms from the suspects.

MALAYSIA’s government says that debris has been found in the Maldives and that it will send a team to the Indian Ocean island nation to determine whether it came from a plane. Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said yesterday that it was premature to speculate whether the debris found in the Maldives is connected to Flight 370.

Sweden IkeaSWEDEN  Police say an attacker has stabbed two people to death and injured another at an Ikea store in central Sweden. Police in the city of Vasteras wrote on Twitter they were called to the store early yesterday afternoon where they found a dead man and two wounded people, one of whom also died later. They said a man had been arrested on suspicion of murder.

GREECE ‘s coast guard rescued more than 1,400 migrants in nearly 60 search and rescue operations near several Greek islands in the eastern Aegean Sea over the past three days as the pace of new arrivals increase, authorities said yesterday.

GREECE and its bailout creditors are working on the final details of a new multi-billion euro rescue loan, with a view to having the country’s parliament approve it later this the week. Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos and Economy Minister George Stathakis held new talks with officials from the EU and IMF, following intensive weekend meetings that stretched into early yesterday.
