WTT Macau ticket holders to receive up to MOP150 in discounts

Macau spectators holding tickets to the WTT Macau Championship 2026 will be able to claim up to MOP150 in discount coupons next week as part of a government-backed campaign designed to draw sports event visitors to local businesses and extend the tournament’s economic impact beyond the arena in Cotai.
The Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT), the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) said the “Ticket Stub Privileges x WTT Macau Championship 2026” initiative will run from Sept. 7 to 13, offering three coupons worth MOP20 off a MOP68 purchase, MOP30 off a MOP108 purchase and MOP100 off a MOP298 purchase.
Each ticket holder can use one coupon per phase across three phases, for a maximum of three discounts totaling MOP150. Coupons can be redeemed at about 500 designated merchants in ZAPE after spectators scan a QR code at tourist information centers at Macau’s six border crossings, at designated booths at the competition venue or at the ZAPE Carnival event site.
Sky Lai, head of the business promotion division at the DSEDT, said Friday the campaign aims to integrate sports, tourism and community consumption and create business opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises.
“The event is divided into three phases, with one discount per phase, and a maximum of three discounts during the event period. The coupons can be used at approximately 500 offline merchants in the ZAPE area.”
Alongside the discounts, the MGTO said it will set up fan support zones in the pedestrian areas of Rua de Cantão and Rua de Pequim in the ZAPE district. The zones will operate from Sept. 8 to 13.
Michelle Ip, head of the MGTO’s Tourism Product and Events Department, said the zones in ZAPE will feature a themed landmark, displays of player-signed rackets and banners, and immersive community tourism scenes created with Macau’s tourism mascot “MAK MAK” and local cultural and creative IPs.
She also said MGTO will promote the campaign through social media, bus and light rail advertising, and displays at border crossings, the competition venue and ticket counters. Ip said the goal is to encourage spectators to spend time exploring the community, shop at local businesses and experience Macau’s diverse tourism offerings.
Fong Kei Kei, DICJ’s acting head of the research and data analysis division, said hotels and resorts will also help promote the campaign on electronic platforms and provide assistance to visitors, aiming to increase foot traffic and spending in the district.
The WTT Macau Championship 2026, co-organized by the Sports Bureau (ID), WTT and Galaxy Entertainment, will be held from Sept. 8 to 13 at the East Asian Games Dome.
The tournament features 32 slots each for men’s and women’s singles, with semifinals and finals on Sept. 13. Organizers urged the public to buy tickets through authorized channels and not to resell them at inflated prices.
