3 audience_ (3)-001Music fans screamed and sang along to music provided as part of HUSH!! Full Band 2014 on Saturday outside the Macau Cultural Centre (MCC). According to the organizers, more than 7,000 people flocked to Art Plaza for nine hours of music, with genres ranging from metal and classic rock to punk, pop rock and funk.
The rock music marathon, which was organized by MCC and celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, has gathered 14 local and overseas bands. The roaring crowd cheered 2side1Brain’s from Okinawa, Taipei’s Funky Brothers, the powerful rock of Beijing’s Left Right, the Bangkok-based Brandnew Sunset and Hong Kong neighbors KillerSoap.
On the home front, the festival invited established local musicians: Bombers’s Striking Technique, Portuguese project João Gomes e Banda, the explosive presence of Blademark, the experienced Experience, L.A.V.Y’s pop sensation, outstanding post-rock tunes by the WhyOceans, the ever popular Scamper, and two rookie bands playing for the first time at HUSH!!, Sketch and Catalyser.
Audiences also had their fair share of excitement between sets. The chill-out area hosted a Rock n’ Draw of exclusive prizes and spirits were running high with a hip-hop battle by two local dance groups. There was also the Silent Disco, a unique DJ live music experience that kept everybody else dancing.
The photo corner gave the audience a chance to take instant photos. To keep partygoers refreshed, there were also drinks and tasty snacks.
During a recent meet-the-press session attended by members of local bands who participated in HUSH!!, several musicians said that the rock festival has provided a platform for them to showcase their music and talents. They also suggested that the festival should run for a longer period, in order to include more bands and musicians.
