A forum on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) technologies has featured acupuncture for smoking cessation as a non-pharmacological treatment that reduces nicotine cravings through acupoint stimulation. The “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Development Forum” focused on standardization of technologies and empowerment of primary healthcare. The event, held last Sunday, brought together authoritative experts from the three regions to discuss pathways for high-quality development of TCM. The chairman of the Macau Association of Researchers, Practitioners and Promoters of Chinese Medicine, Paulo do Lago Comandante, stated that these techniques are not only clinical tools that are “simple, convenient, affordable, and effective,” but also key vehicles for integrating TCM into primary healthcare.
