Authorities have reported that an airport worker was injured after allegedly falling six meters while repairing a ceiling light, according to the Public Security Police Force (PSP) initial report.
The accident occurred early this week near a bus stop at Macau International Airport (MIA).
The man was taken to the hospital, and a preliminary assessment indicated that he had sustained bone fractures and lacerations.
The incident has been reported to the Labour Affairs Bureau, which will follow up on the case and conduct an in-depth investigation.
According to PSP, the incident occurred around 3 a.m. near the MIA bus stop on Avenida de Wai Long Road in Taipa.
Firefighters and police arrived at the scene and confirmed that a 42-year-old local male was suspected of having a fractured right forearm, bleeding from his right ear, and a jaw laceration. He was conscious and taken to the Conde de São Januário Hospital Center for treatment.
The injured employee works for an airport outsourced service company.
The MIA stated that although the injured person was not an airport company worker, since he is an employee from a third-party company hired by the airport, it regards personnel safety as a top priority and takes the incident very seriously.
The airport company said it had instructed the outsourced company to immediately suspend similar work, thoroughly investigate on-site safety hazards, strengthen safety training for frontline personnel, and review existing protective measures.
