A salesman working for a tobacco shop was attacked by an assailant with a knife last Saturday night after work. The victim is in a stable condition after medical treatment. The local resident Ho, 29 years old, was attacked while walking with his female friend near the border gate at around 7:30 p.m. last Saturday. A man with a cap suddenly emerged from behind and pushed the woman over. The suspect hit Ho with a stick, before attacking again with a knife measuring some 35 cm. Ho sustained injuries to his back, shoulder, arm and leg. The suspect then escaped toward Avenida de Artur Tamagnini Barbosa. The Judiciary Police (PJ) took the woman back to the bureau for questioning after collecting evidence. The police will look into the motivation and identity of the suspect. The victim was in a critical condition when sent to Kiang Wu Hospital. PJ announced yesterday morning that he is in a stable condition.
Galaxy announces charitable foundation
Lui Che Woo, chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), announced the establishment of “GEG Charitable Foundation,” hoping to reinforce GEG’s commitment to promoting a sustainable future for Macau through sharing its business success with the community. Lui Che Woo announced that the foundation has been established with HKD300 million, and said that another HKD1 billion would be committed to the foundation later on. According to a press release issued by GEG, the foundation “is committed to giving back to the society through helping young people develop positive moral and life values, foster patriotism and ethnic identity, as well as enhance their understanding of the country and Macau.” It also aims to support young people in entrepreneurship and in attempting new endeavors. Lui Che Woo made the announcement during a gala dinner on July 4 to celebrate Galaxy’s tenth year in operation, and the third anniversary of its Cotai property, attended by Chui Sai On and Edmund Ho.
