Briefs | Sou Chio Fai stays on as GAES coordinator

Sou Chio Fai will continue to serve as coordinator of the Tertiary Education Services Office (GAES), according to a notice published yesterday in the government’s Official Gazette. A notice from the office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture added that Mr Sou Chio Fai’s contract has been renewed for another two years, due to his “management abilities and adequate professional experience when performing his duties.”

Record month at the airport

COLUNA macau airport hallIn the month of February, the Macau International Airport (MIA) recorded a continuous growth of passenger traffic volume and aircraft movements. According to a press release issued by MIA, passenger volume surpassed 480,000 and the daily average passenger intake was over 17,000, while the aircraft movements were recorded at over 4,000. This represents a 14% increase and a 6% increase in passenger and aircraft movements respectively, compared to the same period last year. Southeast Asia routes continue to perform well, with 170,000 passengers recorded, while the Taiwan market recorded 120,000 passengers. The two markets presented 22% and 13% increases respectively.

Several places left for IACM art workshop

The “Play with Light and Shadow: Children’s Creative Workshop” art workshop, organized by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM), has several places still open for registration after the first round of applications. Interested parties can still apply for the workshop, designed for children aged from five to seven and eight to ten, before March 10. The workshop welcomes both Cantonese-speaking and English-speaking children, as it includes courses taught in both languages. Since 1999, IACM has been organizing art courses for local children, aiming to stimulate their creativity through different mixed media.
