Lawmaker Sulu Sou has asked the government to provide better care to children with special needs. Sou proposes that the government expand screening services for the early treatment of children, strengthen the workforce and service quality of relevant medical professionals, and provide more timely and adequate treatment and training courses. Sou also asked the government whether it will launch the pilot scheme of the caregiver allowance and whether the scheme will cover families with special needs children, following their requests for the allowance over a period of years. Sou also wants to know about the estimated launch time for the two planned homecare centers.

SSM expects to pay MOP300 for each Covid vaccine

The Macau government is expecting to pay 300 patacas for each Covid-19 vaccine. The Director of the Health Bureau (SSM), Lei Chin Ion, revealed that the SAR government will try to buy 1.4 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to supply the Macau public. One dose of the vaccine is estimated to cost 300 patacas. However, the price is expected to change because the vaccine suppliers have not decided on the price. Lei said that the World Health Organization’s vaccine supply scheme will prioritize vaccines for high-risk countries and regions, and that the supply will be rather late arriving in Macau. In addition, Lei commented that Macau is evaluating measures allowing foreign nationals to enter the city. However, the local government will only announce the relevant plans when they are well-prepared. Currently, there is no timetable in place. Meanwhile, from tomorrow, the nucleic acid test in the city will be reduced to 100 patacas.

Woman poisoned by carbon monoxide during shower

A 33-year-old mainland woman is suspected of having been poisoned by carbon monoxide during a shower. The incident happened in a residential unit at Treasure Garden. The Fire Services Bureau received a report at approximately 3 a.m. yesterday. The firefighters said that the incident was suspected to have been caused by a leak in the exhaust pipe of a water heater while the woman was taking a shower. The housing unit uses central petroleum gas and the firefighters detected a carbon monoxide reading of 28 PPM in the kitchen where the water heater was installed. The inspection carried out by the staff of the gas company indicated that the cause of the accident might have been leakage from the exhaust pipe. The woman showed had no detectable heartbeat when she was discovered. She was then taken to the hospital by paramedics.
