Crystal Palace phase two to launch this summer

The second phase of the “Crystal Palace” gaming area at the Hotel Lisboa property is expected to open in July or August, Daisy Ho, chairman and executive director of SJM Holdings Ltd, was quoted as saying on Tuesday by the portal GGR Asia.
Ho was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Dragon Boat Festival blessing ceremony held at Nam Van Lake.
Ho added that the launch would coincide with the rollout of more than 400 refurbished hotel rooms at the historic downtown Macau property, although the exact date remains subject to approval by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.
During the same media interview, Ho also revealed that, by 2027, Hotel Lisboa and its adjacent sister property, Hotel Grand Lisboa, will be transformed into a unified “large-scale” integrated resort with a “brand-new” appearance. The two properties, separated by a main road, are already linked via a footbridge and an underground tunnel, the second currently undergoing renovations as part of the new unified property.
After the major revamp at the old Lisboa, the Grand Lisboa is undergoing a hotel room renovation that will include new non-gaming elements.
At the old Lisboa, refurbishment work included the lobbies, guest rooms, and ground-floor commercial areas.
The first phase of the revamped Crystal Palace gaming area, separate from the main casino floor, began operations in late November.
Another update noted in the media interview was the renovation of the Night and Day (Noite e Dia) restaurant.
Ho hinted that, in renovating the guest rooms, the company is following a market trend that leans towards reducing the number of rooms in favor of creating larger hotel rooms and mostly suites.
According to Ho’s information, during the renovation process, the Hotel Lisboa saw its total number of guest rooms reduced. This reduction was said to be offset by the renovation of the Grand Lisboa, which will see an increase of approximately 10%.
The additional space will come from former VIP gaming areas that will be reconverted into villas.
The Grand Lisboa refurbishment also includes the creation of new food and beverage outlets on the third floor, the relocation of the hotel check-in counters from the ground-floor lobby to the seventh floor.
As for the space retrieved on the ground floor of the Hotel Grand Lisboa, it will be used to install new retail spaces.
