CRIME | PJ cracks cocaine case, detains HK resident

The Judiciary Police (PJ) has detained a 36-year-old Hong Kong resident and found more than 70 grams of cocaine in his apartment. After receiving a tip-off, PJ intercepted the man outside an Internet café at Edificio Kam Hoi San in Areia Preta on Monday. After searching the man, PJ officers found 5.23 grams of cocaine inside his underwear. They then took him back to his apartment on Rua do Almirante Ségio and found 70.13 grams of cocaine. The authorities estimated that the illicit drugs found on the man and in the apartment would be worth around MOP300,000 on the black market. A PJ spokesperson said that the man brought the drugs from Hong Kong into Macau in December and was planning to sell them to his acquaintances. The authorities believe that the man has been dealing drugs for about two weeks.
Separately, the Public Security Police has detained two mainland men who allegedly attempted to assault a fellow mainland man with choppers on Saturday at Cotai. A third suspect remains at large.
Police information indicates that the victim and his friends were on the footbridge at the Estrada da Baía de Nossa Senhora da Esperança in the afternoon on Saturday when they saw three men holding choppers in their hands and walking towards them in an aggressive manner. The victim and the three suspects were all from Shandong province. The police believe that the incident was caused by monetary disputes.
