Data shows rise in motor vehicles and cross-border traffic

According to the Statistics and Census Service, the city had 252,697 licensed motor vehicles at the end of April, a 1% year-over-year increase. Cross-border vehicular trips surged 23.6% in April to 880,495, while passenger ferry trips and commercial flights fell 1.2% and 7.2%, respectively. Mobile phone subscribers rose 4% to 1.46 million, and internet subscribers grew 5.1% to 778,821. New vehicle registrations decreased 5.7%, with electric vehicles making up 36.4% of April’s total.
