Macau’s electronic payment transaction values rose in April 2026, with retail trade outperforming the food and beverage sector, according to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). Transaction values for restaurants and similar establishments increased 1.6% year-on-year to MOP1.08 billion, while retail trade jumped 12% to MOP4.20 billion. For the first four months of the year, restaurant transactions rose 2.1% to MOP4.67 billion, and retail trade climbed 17.8% to MOP20.47 billion. Within the restaurant sector, fast-food outlets and Western restaurants posted gains, while Japanese and Korean restaurants, as well as Chinese restaurants, recorded declines.
