Four mainland men arrested over alleged extortion of prostitutes
The Judiciary Police (PJ) have arrested four mainland men suspected of extorting at least five women engaged in prostitution, allegedly collecting a total of HKD4,200 and subsequently losing the money at casinos.
The case came to light on August 20, when the police received an anonymous report about suspected prostitution at a hotel in the NAPE area. Officers went to the hotel and intercepted two men in a guest room. During the investigation, police learned that the report had been made after an attempted extortion of a woman involved in prostitution.
The following day, officers intercepted two other suspects preparing to leave Macau through the Hengqin Port.
The four suspects, aged between 29 and 33 and described as friends, allegedly came to Macau together to commit the offences. Police said they targeted women engaged in prostitution on the streets and arranged to meet them at hotels for sexual services.
Afterward, the suspects allegedly refused to pay, claiming that the services were unsatisfactory, and threatened to report the women to police for prostitution unless they paid money.
At least five women were allegedly targeted. Three paid HKD200, HKD1,000 and HKD3,000, respectively, while two others refused to pay.
The police have opened a separate investigation into the prostitution activities involving the women. LV
