Galaxy chef to participate in UN Young Chefs Programme

Daniel Chio, a local chef from Galaxy Macau, has been selected for the Young Chefs Programme (YCP) organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and coordinated by the World Food Forum (WFF), becoming the only participant representing Macau, China, in the current cohort.

The programme selects 10 chefs aged 18 to 35 from around the world and aims to promote sustainable culinary practices and agrifood system transformation.

The 2026 cohort runs from January 2026 to January 2027 and includes mentorship from the World Association of Chefs’ Societies, monthly online training sessions, and participation in international food-related forums.

Chio was recently promoted from Chef de Partie to Sous Chef at Galaxy Macau and has more than a decade of experience in professional kitchens. His work focuses on sustainable practices such as waste reduction through whole-ingredient use, sourcing local and seasonal produce, energy-efficient kitchen operations, and plant-forward menu development.
