Passenger traffic through Hong Kong reached 3.9 million during the period between of February 5 and 14. Of this figure, mainland tourists accounted for 1.2 million.
The Hong Kong Immigration Department reported that during the first 6 days of the holidays, the number of visitors to Hong Kong reached 2.3 million, down 6.2 percent year-on-year, of which mainland visitors accounted for 744,000. This represents a decrease of 11.6 percent year-on-­year.
In Macau, the number of visitors during the Lunar New Year week between the February 7 and Sunday was up by 4 percent year-on-year. There were 1.22 million visitor arrivals, the Public Security Police announced.
Wednesday (February 10) and Friday (February 12) registered the largest movements of people across the borders.
