Inflation rises 0.33% in 2025
The inflation rate for 2025 remained low at 0.33%, according to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). The Composite Consumer Price Index (CPI) for December rose 0.69% year-on-year and 0.17% month-on-month, reflecting moderate upward pressure on household costs. Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages (+0.62%) and Housing & Fuels (+0.25%) contributed to overall price growth, with higher charges for dining out, takeaway, and dwelling rentals, partly offset by lower electricity bills and falling prices of fresh fish and pork. Leisure-related costs saw sharper increases, with Recreation, Sport & Culture (+2.02%) and Miscellaneous Goods & Services (+1.85%) recording notable year-on-year growth.
