Macau’s first professional boxer KK Ng, dubbed the “Macau Kid,” failed to disappoint local fans, triumphing in a six-round super-welterweight contest against Australia’s Stephen Attard.
KK Ng won by unanimous decision despite suffering an ugly gash to his forehead. He was visibly happy and relaxed at the event’s press conference, where Top Rank promoter Bob Arum praised him as someone who is “learning his craft.”
The local fighter took the stand and commented on his fight in English: “It was a tough fight, because I got cut and the referee asked me if I wanted to fight. Then I heard the crowd shouting my name and [I thought that] I wanted to fight and I continued and won.”
In his one year as a super welterweight, Ng’s record is 6-0 with 2 KOs. He delivered one of his most decisive victories on the ‘Featherweight Fury’ boxing card at The Venetian Macao in May, defeating Mohammed Imam in just 56 seconds.
The ‘Macau Kid’ lives up to expectations
