MGTO campaign receives 2019 PATA Grand Award

The “Experience Macau Food Truck in Los Angeles” promotional campaign rolled out by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) last year won the Grand Award in the Marketing Category at the 2019 Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Grand and Gold Awards.

The association will also award Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited the PATA Gold Award in the category of Marketing – Hospitality for their “The Art of Winning” advertising campaign, making this Melco’s third win of the award since 2017.

According to a statement issued by the MGTO, the award presentation will be held September 19 during the PATA Travel Mart 2019, which will be at Nur- Sultan, Kazakhstan, September 18 to 20.

The winning “Experience Macao Food Truck in Los Angeles” campaign was held from May 29 to June 2, 2018. The food truck featured samples of signature pork chop buns and Portuguese egg tarts from Macau, twice-daily lion dance performances and practical travel tips.

The MGTO also invited members of the industry and media to experience the food truck firsthand, sampling Macau’s signature delicacies ahead of the official launch of the campaign. The promotional food truck visited five destinations in Los Angeles.

This is the fifth time that the MGTO has been honored with a PATA award. MGTO received a 2002 PATA Grand Award for Marketing for its “Macao Welcomes You Passport” campaign, a 2007 PATA Grand Award for Heritage for its “Macao World Heritage Year” campaign and a 2008 PATA Gold Award for Travel Advertisement Print Media for its “Experience Macao” campaign.

The tourism bureau also received the 2016 PATA Gold Award for Marketing Media – Mobile Travel Application with its “Step Out, Macao” mobile app.

PATA will present four Grand Awards and 29 Gold Awards to celebrate accomplishments in seven categories: Marketing Campaign, Environment, Corporate Social Responsibility, Heritage and Culture, Education and Training, Marketing Media and Travel Journalism. LV
